I had conversations with just over one dozen people in the last month who didn’t think they were getting laid off…only to get the email a week later or see on their LinkedIn feed that they did get laid off.
Ouch!
All executive or senior level corporate types, not all in tech, but some were in the thick of Silicon Valley…
But each and every one of them said, “I’ll be fine. There aren’t many people who do what I do.”
And every one of them had a neglected LinkedIn profile and didn’t have a resume ready because “I hadn’t needed it in the last few years and I’m probably fine.”
Then 💥 BAM…
So I’ve had this theory formulate in the last two years about how you need to look WORTH retaining to increase your odds of being retained.
I’ve had a number of talent management and high level HR people validate my theory that I talk about in the video (and why those TM and CHRO-level people were talking to me in the first place…because they saw in action what I theorized).
